The Outdoor Classroom and Gardens at McGinnis Woods provide a wonderful teaching tool for our students especially in the areas of STEM and the environment.
The classroom features a large gathering area along with areas designed for art, music and exploration including a 1/4 mile trail with fairy house and activities placed throughout.
The Wildcat Waterway also runs through the classroom and has been used in partnership with educational opportunities led by the fabulous Keep Forsyth Beautiful which is a community based organization.

Greenhouse & Garden Beds Complement Our Outdoor Classroom
We love our Nature's Explore Outdoor Classroom and use the space often! Recently we moved our Greenhouse to the entrance of the classroom, and we love the way that it draws more attention to our unique outdoor space.
Our STEM teacher has created new, exciting units that capitalize on our greenhouse space. We have also added a new composting bin to create more nutrients to add to our garden's soil. Each year we add to our outdoor activities and curriculum and we find that the students love spending time being outdoors.
Whether they are cleaning up the environment, doing an experiment, going on a nature walk or reading a good book, the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom is the place to be!
Yesterday a family visiting from abroad came to tour our school because they want their children to spend time in nature and had heard about our Outdoor Classroom. They were very excited to see the children learning by doing in nature!
