Our Fifth grade program emphasizes writing and reading using graphic organizers, and begins preparation for transitioning into Middle School.
Past classes have published their own newspaper, The Lemonade Press, providing students with increased responsibility and understanding of ‘process’ and communication, combined with creativity. The class reads many trade books and Literature Circles as a means to facilitate learning about the topic and cooperative groups.
Across the entire curriculum, best practices in education are used. Field trips become even more adventuresome with outings scheduled to the CDC, Elatchee Nature, and Bulloch Hall.
Also, beginning in the 4th grade students may be officers in Student Council. They may also participate in Safety Patrols.
McGinnis Woods Country Day School is committed to helping your child reach his/her highest potential while developing and maintaining a life-long love of learning.
Our Fifth Grade program allows opportunities for your child to grow and develop at their own rate in all areas of development: emotional, physical, social, and intellectual. Field Trips are enjoyed monthly to reinforce classroom learning. Parents are always encouraged to join us.
