We’re so excited about all of the new technologies we have at McGinnis Woods this year! We have added additional iPad minis in the Pre-K classrooms to be used at center times and new tablets in the elementary and middle school Technology lab.
The school also purchased two Meccanoid robots for our students to learn to program and test. One robot is two feet tall and the other is four feet tall! In the near future, we will be able to add additional Meccano extensions and parts to make these robots taller and have greater functionality like rotating heads and wrists.
Students have enjoyed working with Ozobot robots that are programmed to recognize different color commands. We have introduced all of our children to these robots and their commands. We will begin to offer Virtual Field Trips to places such as the Amazon, London, and into Space for all students through Virtual View Masters and Google Cardboard.
Additionally, we have many handheld cameras and video cameras for upper grades to complete video projects such as the middle school student’s “School of Choice” video that was completed for our recent Open House and National School Choice Week.
We just added a 3D Printer to our STEM room! We are eager to use this device to create masterpieces for our parents and community to see and enjoy.
