What Makes McGinnis Woods Unique
6 Reasons Families Choose McGinnis Woods
Our Mission — More Than Academics
Where Education Inspires the Whole Child
At McGinnis Woods Country Day School, we know that children learn best when they are actively engaged. Our mission is to provide a safe, loving environment where each child is challenged to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
Since 1999, we’ve partnered with families to inspire a lifelong love of learning — encouraging curiosity, kindness, and good citizenship along the way.
Hands-On, Minds-On Learning
Hands-On. Minds-On. Heart-Felt.
Our curriculum is “hands-on, minds-on” — never just textbook-driven. Our students learn by doing: conducting STEM experiments, exploring nature trails, planting in the greenhouse, raising chicks, performing on stage, and expressing themselves through art.
Frequent field trips, in-house experiences, and outdoor learning spaces make every lesson come alive. From our youngest preschoolers to our middle grades, students are engaged, curious, and eager to learn.
Small Class Sizes & Dedicated Teachers
Where Every Child Is Known and Loved
Our small class sizes and experienced teachers ensure that every student receives the attention and encouragement they need to thrive. Our low student-teacher ratio allows us to tailor learning to each child’s needs, strengths, and interests.
9:1 & 11:1
Teacher/Student Ratios are 9:1 for PreK4, PreK5, and 11:1 for K - 8th Grades.
A Culture of Good Citizenship
Building Kind, Confident Citizens
Being part of McGinnis Woods means more than academics. Through daily interactions, character education, leadership opportunities, environmental programs, clubs, athletics, community service, and other special programs, students grow into responsible, respectful citizens who care for others and their world.
Outdoor Learning That Inspires
Learning Beyond the Classroom Walls
Our beautiful wooded campus and Certified Nature Explore outdoor classroom in Alpharetta is designed to connect children with nature. Students plant vegetables in raised garden beds, explore science outdoors, and enjoy fresh air and adventure every day.
We believe outdoor learning fosters curiosity, resilience, and a sense of wonder.
