One of the most meaningful traditions at McGinnis Woods School is our annual Wildcat Walk. Each May, we invite our graduating high school seniors who once attended McGinnis Woods to return to campus for a special celebration with our students and staff.
A School Community That Extends Beyond 8th Grade
For families considering a PK–8 school, it is natural to wonder what happens after students graduate and move on to high school. The lasting relationships students build are one of the things that make McGinnis Woods different. At McGinnis Woods, preparing students for high school and graduation from 8th grade doesn't mean the end of a student's connection to the school.
The Wildcat Walk gives us an opportunity to welcome former students back, celebrate how far they've come, and let our current students see where their own educational journeys may take them.

Welcoming Our Wildcats Back to Campus
During the Wildcat Walk, our alumni parade through the school halls while current students cheer, clap, wave, and shake pom-poms to let them know how proud we are of their accomplishments. It is a joyful and inspiring moment for everyone. Our younger students get to see the exciting possibilities ahead, and our graduates are reminded that McGinnis Woods will always be part of their story.
Following the walk, we host a reception for the graduates and their families. This special time gives us the opportunity to reconnect with former students, enjoy refreshments together, hear about their future plans, and celebrate all they have achieved. Each graduate also receives a gift from the school as a reminder that they will always be part of the McGinnis Woods family.
22 Former Students Returned for This Year's Wildcat Walk
This past May, we were delighted to welcome 22 former students back to campus to participate in this cherished tradition. Several had not returned to McGinnis Woods since their early childhood years, including some who had not been back since PreK. Yet they wanted to return to the place where their educational journey began, making the day even more meaningful.

We were thrilled to learn that our alumni are continuing their education and careers at outstanding colleges and universities and in service to our country through the armed forces. Some of their new homes include:
