October was a full and meaningful month at McGinnis Woods Country Day School, filled with hands-on learning, student leadership, community support, and plenty of Wildcat spirit. From campus projects to athletic achievements, our students and families came together in ways that truly reflect what makes McGinnis Woods special.
Building Community Through Service
We kicked off the month with an incredible Outdoor Classroom Clean-Up Day, where volunteers helped refresh our campus by planting new greenery, cleaning outdoor learning spaces, and beautifying shared areas. We are deeply grateful to the parents, students, and community members who gave their time and energy to make our campus an even more welcoming and inspiring place to learn.
Celebrating Our Volunteers and Staff
October was also a time to say thank you. Our Parent Association surprised teachers and staff with a thoughtful fall treat, reminding everyone how appreciated they are. These moments of gratitude highlight the strong partnership between families and faculty that supports our school community year-round.
Student Leadership in Action
Our Student Council elections wrapped up this month after a week of campaigning and creativity. Students demonstrated responsibility, communication, and leadership as they ran for office. Congratulations to the newly elected Student Council officers—we’re excited to see their ideas and leadership in action this year.
We also proudly welcomed our new Safety Patrol officers, who stepped into leadership roles focused on responsibility, safety, and setting a positive example for their peers.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Throughout October, students across grade levels stayed engaged with creative and academic projects:
- Heritage Day in first grade celebrated cultural diversity through student-created presentations.
- STEM activities challenged students to test structures and explore engineering concepts.
- Third graders combined creativity and learning with pumpkin-themed book reports.
These experiences reflect our hands-on approach to learning and our commitment to engaging students in meaningful ways.
School Spirit and Wildcat Pride
October was a big month for Wildcat athletics. Our volleyball and soccer teams finished strong as MAAC Championship runners-up, and our 8th grade girls volleyball team celebrated a special recognition night that ended with a win. We are proud of our athletes for their teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship.
Fall Fun and Traditions
Our Fall Festival 2026 brought laughter and excitement to campus with games, inflatables, and activities for students and families to enjoy together. The creativity continued beyond campus with Scrappy the Scarecrow, a student-created entry in the Alpharetta Scarecrow Harvest that showcased imagination and sustainability.
We also celebrated our October Citizens of the Month and Teacher of the Month, recognizing students and staff who exemplify kindness, leadership, and commitment to the McGinnis Woods values.
October was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our community, the leadership of our students, and the joy of learning together. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this month such a success and look forward to even more memorable moments as the school year continues.
