The first week of the 2024-2025 school year is in the books at McGinnis Woods School, and what a fantastic week it was! As a private, non-parochial school located in Alpharetta, Georgia, we take pride in creating memorable experiences that enrich our students' lives both inside and outside the classroom. This week was no exception, with students across all grades diving into new learning opportunities and making lasting memories.

Middle School Takes on Treetop Quest

The highlight of the week for our middle school students was undoubtedly their first field trip of the year to Treetop Quest. Located amidst the lush canopy of trees, Treetop Quest offers an exhilarating outdoor learning experience that combines physical activity with team-building exercises. Our middle schoolers geared up and tackled the ropes courses, zip lines, and climbing platforms with enthusiasm and bravery.

Students could be seen navigating the heights, from standing on platforms high above the ground to zip-lining through the trees. This adventure was not only a fun way to end the week but also an opportunity to strengthen bonds, build confidence, and develop problem-solving skills—all key elements of our middle school curriculum.

Preschool and Elementary Students Embrace the New School Year

Meanwhile, our younger students in preschool and elementary school were equally engaged. The 2nd graders enjoyed reconnecting with friends during recess and began preparing their Flat Stanleys for exciting journeys. Their smiles and laughter on the playground were a testament to the joyful learning environment we strive to create here at McGinnis Woods.

Throughout the week, students across all grades participated in various classroom activities, including buddy reading sessions. Our 4th-grade "Happy Campers" teamed up with the 1st-grade "Gnomes" for a fun reading tradition, fostering a love for books and peer mentoring.
