August has been a busy and exciting month at McGinnis Woods! From field trips and special guests to honoring our Citizens and Teacher of the Month, our students have been busy learning, exploring, and growing both inside and outside of the classroom.
Celebrating Citizens & Teacher of the Month
We were proud to recognize our Citizens and Teacher of the Month for August 2025! These students and teachers exemplify the McGinnis Woods spirit by showing kindness, leadership, and a love of learning. Our celebration included fun treats and smiles all around as we honored their achievements.
Second Graders’ Nature Scavenger Hunt
Our second graders enjoyed a hands-on learning adventure during a nature scavenger hunt near the amphitheater. With clipboards in hand, students explored the outdoors while sharpening their observation skills. The activity was a wonderful reminder that learning can happen anywhere—and it’s especially fun when surrounded by nature.
First Graders Visit the Gwinnett Environmental Center
Our first graders had a fabulous time at the Gwinnett Environmental Center. During the trip, they explored the importance of water for both plants and animals and gained hands-on experiences through interactive exhibits. The day sparked their curiosity about the natural world and deepened their appreciation for our environment.
Pre-K Enjoys a Puppet Show with Mr. Niko
The Pre-K students welcomed a very special visitor—Mr. Niko from Lee Bryan that Puppet Guy! The children were captivated by his storytelling and loved learning from the engaging puppet show, which shared unique tales from around the world.
Middle School Adventures at Treetop Quest
Our middle schoolers kicked off the year with their first field trip to Treetop Quest. Surrounded by nature, students challenged themselves on ropes courses and ziplines while cheering each other on. It was a day of teamwork, perseverance, and friendship building—perfect for starting the school year with confidence and connection.
