May was packed with memorable moments for our students at McGinnis Woods School, a private, non-parochial school serving families in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, and South Forsyth. From exciting overnight adventures to a fantastic theater performance and a beloved school tradition on the lawn, our students will spend the month with learning, laughter, and lasting memories.
Overnight Field Trips for 1st–8th Grade
One of our favorite McGinnis Woods traditions is May’s series of field trips and overnight excursions for students in 1st through 8th grade.
- 1st grade kicked things off with an overnight adventure at Zoo Atlanta, where they had a roaring good time exploring the exhibits and learning about animals.
- 3rd grade visited the Tennessee Aquarium and enjoyed a full day of discovery before a restful night nearby.
- 4th grade traveled to Nature’s Classroom in Mentone, Alabama, where they spent the day hiking and challenging themselves on the ropes course. This tradition always leaves students feeling empowered and connected.
- 5th–7th graders recently headed out to Wahsega 4-H Center for an overnight trip full of learning and team-building.
- 8th grade took a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Close Up program, a meaningful and educational capstone experience for our oldest students.
Theater Performance: Alice in Wonderland Jr.
Our talented middle grades students performed Alice in Wonderland Jr. under the direction of Mr. Bryant and Ms. Liz. From the energetic acting to the colorful costumes and sets, the performance brought big smiles and applause from a packed house of proud families and friends. Thank you to everyone who helped make this production so special!
Scene on the Green: A Day to Remember
To wrap up the month, our school community gathered for Scene on the Green, an annual McGinnis Woods tradition full of outdoor fun, games, and celebration. Students, teachers, and families enjoyed the beautiful weather while making end-of-year memories together.
At McGinnis Woods School, we believe in educating the whole child through hands-on experiences, strong academics, the arts, and joyful community traditions. May was a shining example of how our students learn, grow, and thrive—inside and outside the classroom.
