In honor of Veterans Day, our Preschool students made individual flags and the first graders worked collaboratively to make larger flags in honor of Veterans Day. Also, a big thank you to Mr. Josh for speaking about his experience and service as a Ranger. We learned so much! Thank you to all our Veterans.
The 4th graders took a field trip to The Youth Museum and participated in their America’s Pathways to Independence program. This program had the students acting out history including scenes from the American Revolutionary War such as the Stamp Act, The Boston Tea Party and Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride. What a fantastic learning opportunity!
McGinnis Woods has a long standing partnership with Keep Forsyth County Beautiful. Through the years we have partnered with them to do clean-up projects, sample water in our creek, contribute to frog research and learn about water, erosion and run off. An instructor from High Touch High Tech taught our students all about Geology. The students had a fantastic time learning about rocks and how they are formed. They also tested the rocks for hardness and learned about the effects of erosion on rocks.
Today was “Moving Up Day” at McGinnis Woods Country Day School Today, all the students, including students from the preschool, elementary school and middle grades, spent an hour in next years’ grade level just to check out what their futures hold. They had a great time!
The 4th grade classes participated in a Q and A time in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr at the Freedom Center today. They learned so much from the participants and are hoping to be on 11 Alive’s special coverage, so tune in.
