March was a busy and memorable month at McGinnis Woods School, filled with hands-on learning, school celebrations, and meaningful experiences both inside and outside the classroom. From science-focused events to field trips and community celebrations, our students were engaged in a wide variety of activities that made the month both exciting and enriching.
STEM Family Fun Night and Science Fair Highlights
One of the biggest events of the month was our STEM Family Fun Night, themed Under the Sea. Families enjoyed interactive classroom activities, and students had the opportunity to showcase the creativity and hard work they poured into their Science Fair projects.
In the days leading up to the event, science fair boards lined the halls, giving everyone a chance to see the thoughtful research, problem-solving, and presentation skills our students developed. STEM Family Fun Night brought that excitement to life with unique, ocean-themed activities and the much-anticipated announcement of our Science Fair winners. We were so proud of every student who participated.
Fourth Grade Visits the Chattahoochee Nature Center
Our 4th grade students enjoyed a beautiful day of outdoor learning during their trip to the Chattahoochee Nature Center. There, they explored the wetlands surrounding the Chattahoochee River and learned about the plants and animals that call the area home.
Students also discussed why protecting the river and its surrounding ecosystems is so important. Opportunities like this help students connect what they learn in the classroom to the natural world around them in a meaningful and memorable way.
First Grade Explores Fernbank Museum
Our first graders had a wonderful time at the Fernbank Museum, where they learned about fossils and took part in a WildWoods walk focused on birds and lizards. The trip combined science, nature, and discovery in a way that was both educational and fun.
Field trips like this help spark curiosity and bring classroom concepts to life through firsthand experiences.
St. Patrick’s Day Creativity in First and Second Grade
March also brought some festive classroom fun for our first and second grade students during their St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Students shared their creative leprechaun traps with classmates and participated in lucky-themed classroom activities.
The day included hands-on learning, imagination, and a few special surprises, making it a memorable celebration for our younger Wildcats.
Celebrating Science Olympiad Success
We were also thrilled to celebrate our amazing Science Olympiad Team for their fantastic results at competition. Their hard work, dedication, teamwork, and perseverance were on full display, and we are incredibly proud of all they accomplished.
Their success reflects the enthusiasm our students bring to STEM learning and the strong support they receive from their teachers and coaches.
Teacher Appreciation Week
March also gave us the opportunity to celebrate our wonderful faculty during Teacher Appreciation Week. Thanks to the thoughtful planning of our Parent Association, the week was filled with fun treats, special surprises, and well-deserved recognition for the amazing teachers who do so much for our students every day.
We are grateful for the energy, care, and dedication our teachers bring to the McGinnis Woods community. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and it was a joy to celebrate them.
Celebrating Student and Teacher Recognition
At the beginning of the month, we also recognized our Citizens of the Month and Teacher of the Month for February. Celebrating these achievements is always a special moment in our school community, and we were proud to honor students and faculty members who exemplify the character and commitment we value at McGinnis Woods.
A Wonderful Month at McGinnis Woods
From STEM exploration and field trips to festive classroom moments and school-wide celebrations, March was filled with meaningful experiences across our campus. These moments reflect the vibrant, engaging environment our students enjoy every day at McGinnis Woods Country Day School.
We are grateful for the enthusiasm of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the support of our families, and we look forward to all that spring will bring.
