Our Outdoor Classroom is now a Nature Explore Certified Classroom!
We’re proud to announce the certification of our Outdoor Classroom, which is the culmination of a multi-year project. Many years ago, our staff participated in a professional development training about the importance of connecting students with nature and the world. The training led us to dream about creating an area for our students to learn about and spend time in nature. That eventually led to the partnership between the Parent Association and school in developing our Outdoor Classroom.
Since that time we have hosted work days, built a learning structure, had a former students complete his Eagle Scout project by building us a storage unit and tables, created learning activity stations, partnered with Keep Forsyth Beautiful to learn about frogs and invertebrates, and finally completed the certification process with Nature Explore. We are so pleased to be one of only 400 Nature Explore Classrooms throughout the United States. This recognition coupled with our commitment to STEM learning provides us with great resources to inspire our students to learn about their world.
